Each week until the 2017 in-person meeting, we will be featuring a session to share a few more details about the agenda. The session this week is “Public Information and Communications during Extremes.” We will learn how to improve our communication and public relations during extreme weather events.

Join us for:

  • Sharing lessons learned from Hurricane Matthew. Speakers will talk about their experiences during the hurricane, focusing on challenges and opportunities for improvement.
  • Learning about best practices for public information campaigns and extreme event communications.
  • Actively engaging the social media audience with consistent messaging and accurate timely communications.
  • Assessing the lack of public information officers in the region during a natural hazard event given the unrelenting demands for constant updates.
